MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE Teacher

Challenge to Excellence, a Premiere STEAM school in Douglas County, is looking for a full-time

Middle School Science teacher for grades 7 – 8 for the 2017-2018 school year. Challenge to Excellence is an academically advanced charter that specializes in STEAM education. The majority of our school runs an effective one to one device program.

Qualifications: Colorado Initial or Professional Colorado Teaching License; B.A. or higher degree, be highly qualified to teach a prescribed curriculum in Biology and Physics  Science for 7th and 8th grade students.

Job Description: The successful candidate will be required to teach prescribed curriculums utilizing Paideia philosophy.  The successful applicant will also be required to:

  • align engaging, experiential based lessons with state standards
  • be willing to work cohesively with both vertical and horizontal teaching teams
  • differentiate lessons for students with learning plans
  • integrate technology in instruction strategies

All candidates must have evidence through previous evaluations of teaching that indicates a high level of classroom management and planning.

Educational Assistant – Part Time (morning)

POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be a positive member of a close knit teaching team and possess strong reading and mathematics skills. The qualified candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm when working with students and professionalism with staff and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented:

Educational Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Small group and/or one on one student instruction
  • Assist in classrooms with supervising teacher
  • Engaging and creative lesson preparation for intervention instruction
  • Standardized test proctoring
  • Timely and accurate data entry
  • Assist in classroom duties like grading, designing bulletin boards, etc.
  • Recess, lunchroom, and morning carpool supervision

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

  • Is flexible
  • Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers
  • Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision
  • Has the ability to effectively communicate

Education: High school diploma required, Associates degree or beyond preferred

Child Care – Program Leader

Description

This is a part-time position from 2:45 p.m to 6:00 p.m during regular school days.

Responsible for supporting the Director and Assistant Director in supervising children in various programs and unstructured activities. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of school-age children in various settings.
  • Actively engage and interact with children during operating hours.
  • Execute program and/or enrichment activities.
  • Enforce individual site behavioral expectations.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of equipment and materials in the program.
  • Administer minor first aid.
  • Conduct daily processes and duties required for opening, closing, and/or transitioning between sessions.
  • May work with special needs children.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

First Aid & CPR Certification (We can get your certified/re-certified.); Experience with working with children in a school or day care setting. High school diploma or college degree.

Job: Before & After School Program

Primary Location: Challenge to Excellence Charter School

Organization: K-8

One Year Only: No

Salary

Starting in a $12.00 range but commensurate with candidate’s experience.

Scheduled Hours Per Week: 15 to 18

Days Per Year: 173
